#66 WE STUDY EVERY OTHER PART OF THE BODY FOR MEDICAL CLUES, SO WHY NOT THE IRIS? If you never heard of Iridology don’t worry, neither had Gordon or Tinamarie. It appears (pardon the pun) that Iridology is a gentle, non-invasive way of identifying inherited strengths and weaknesses in a person’s body. We’ve all heard the proverb that our eyes are the window to our soul, well maybe that’s not so farfetched. Guest Sunshine Beesom is an Iridologist who is certified in the field of Iridology and is able, so we are told, to discover underlying physical and emotional issues, predispositions and hereditary aspects based on the Iris (the color part) of the eye. Baseball and introductions

Hello, and welcome to the Cambridge Connection, your roadmap to debt solutions and renewed financial wellness with your host, Gordon Oliver. The Cambridge Connection is brought to you in partnership with Cambridge Credit Counseling, offering you simple, safe financial solutions since 1996. 5 FM, 1400 AM. Happy New Year’s Eve to everyone listening and to you, my co-pilot. It’s almost a new year.

I know, another new year, right? It came up on us kind of quick. How was Christmas? Christmas was great. Yeah.

Spent it with family. Ran down to Long Island. Good. Yeah. And it was quick, though.

We ran down, had a nice dinner, came back on Monday. What are your plans tonight? I have none. Me neither. Yeah.

We’ll leave it. My plans are not to have plans. Yeah, we’ll leave it to the amateurs, right? Exactly. We’ll leave it to the amateurs.

New year resolutions and financial wellness list

We’ve been there, done that. Yes. Not really interested. Not at all. However, unfortunately or fortunately, however you look at it, people every year seem to use this time to come up with resolutions.

Yeah. This is where all the gyms start making their money for the first quarter of the year. Yeah. That’s why you see all the deals on Join Now, Go Ahead, Get On Auto Pay, right? Yeah.

Exactly. So the sponsor of this show, Cambridge Credit Counseling, one that we can certainly share. This is a show about financial wellness and wisdom. So Cambridge Credit Counseling, 1-800-CAMBRIDGE. They have an education center on their website where they have videos and articles about all things financial wellness, and they have a part one and part two series about New Year’s, what to do with the New Year.

So if we’re calling it what’s been called before, the New Year, the New You, right? Sure. As some people even consider, you know, why don’t you just be yourself, right? Just be who you are. Forget about resolutions.

I don’t like to set myself up for failure. Okay. So we can accept that on all things except what we’re here for, which is financial wellness. Absolutely. So let’s kind of go over some of the things that are recommended.

Read the rest of the transcript, about 4,700 more words

We’ve talked about these things on the show and we’ll continue to. So number one is get educated, right? If you don’t understand something when it deals with personal financial management. And we’re not talking going out and getting your stock trading license. We’re just talking about basic financial wellness things that you can do, right?

So get educated. Yes, absolutely. That’s really important. Education is key to anything, right? And of course, you counsel people as a certified counselor.

So number two is budget. And I think we’ve discussed that many people that come in that are in trouble have pretty much don’t have a budget or they just don’t even really know. Right. Right. And yeah, we get that a lot.

You know, when you’re asking somebody what their average electric bill is and they have no idea, you know, these are things you got to pay attention to. That’s key to budgeting is paying attention to your expenses. Especially when money’s tight and everything costs more. This is the time to get a handle on it. And there’s no real bad time, right?

Right. Even in the New Year’s, we symbolically use it, but there’s no real bad time. Sure. And the budget changes month to month. I mean, in the winter, you’ve got heating costs, you know, so you’re, I know I heat with oil.

I have to budget that in to my budget for the winter months. And that brings on number three, which is journalizing spending, which means recording everything that you’re spending January 1st to the end of January, the very last day. Keep receipts of everything you spend money on. Keep a copy of your stubs and your auto pays. Add them all up.

Put them in your categories on your budget. Look if it matches up to what you created and then make adjustments for February. Right? Absolutely. Keep that moving on.

Yes. Yes. Shop smarter. I got obviously the last couple of weeks, that wouldn’t have been good advice because typically people don’t shop very smart during the holidays, right? They got all kinds of sales and flash sales.

And this is where they use the credit cards and then the bills come in in January and it’s like, oh my God. Yeah. Which brings us to number four. Curb habits and unnecessary spending. We all know, and we gave these tips, when you come upon the holidays, it’s way too late to start putting a holiday plan together really.

Now’s the time to start planning out 2023 and whatever holidays. Valentine’s Day. We know what goes on on that. Yeah. Listen, and it’s already in the stores.

Right. Right. Before Christmas was over. It was already out. Yeah.

Because it’s all about spending. There’s hearts everywhere. Make people spend and make people feel guilty if they don’t. Right. So got to have a plan for the holidays.

And again, going off, we had Tom on, Tom Foley for taxes, but also insurance policies. Great time to review and make sure that your insurance is competitive. Nothing, no harm, no foul, and seeing other quotes about the insurance and how it can cover you on your car, in your home, renter’s insurance, et cetera. Emergency fund. Four or five months of essential expenses.

It just sounds, it’s very difficult. It is. It’s very difficult for a lot of people. Four to five months. I mean.

I’m going to bring grandma into this. We’ve talked about this before. Yeah. Under the mattress. Got to start somewhere.

Yeah. Right? Yeah. Absolutely. $5 a week if you can.

Start somewhere. Put it in an account where you don’t have a debit card, where you can make a deposit. If you do get a debit card with the account, just cut it. Yep. Make the deposit out of your account.

Automatically put in $5 a week or $10 every two weeks. Try to start somewhere. Yep. Out of sight, out of mind. Right?

That’s right. Mm-hmm. Pay off debts. 1-800-CAMBRIDGE. That’s what this show is for.

More importantly, though, it’s not realistic to say, pay your mortgage off this year. Okay? Right. That’s not realistic. But you got to start somewhere.

Mm-hmm. So if you have credit cards or unsecured debts with interest that’s costing you money, it’s a good idea to try to figure out how to start paying those down. And you can always get a free counseling session at Cambridge Credit Counseling to talk about your situation. Absolutely. And then, you know, you got to look into it.

Once you’re starting, you pay your debts down, you get those taken care of, then you can add a little additional to your mortgage. And you can expedite that as well. So it’s all about planning and budgeting is the key to all of this. All of these things we’re mentioning. Right?

Yes. They all add into the plan. And the last one would be retirement planning. And you know in my, that’s number 10, in my business development I speak to a lot of financial advisors and a lot of the concerns they have right now are people are borrowing off their retirement plans, number one. Number two, they’re suggesting they can’t find 3% of their paycheck to start investing.

That’s why, if that’s the case, that means you are over your head. So it’s a good time to talk to a counselor, a good time to try to create a plan to move away from that and find a way to start investing and paying down your debt, and of course your retirement. All right. So we’re going to take a quick break. Obviously, it’s New Year’s Eve.

We have a very special guest coming up to talk about a very unique way of looking into some of the habits and the things that you do to try to change them. This is Gordon Oliver with The Cambridge Connection. We’ll be right back. The holidays may be over, but the bills that come due afterward can put stress on your family’s budget. Cambridge’s budget counseling is free.

Introducing guest and iridology background

So if you need help making a 2023 plan to deal with your debt, call 1-800-CAMBRIDGE. Welcome back, everyone, to The Cambridge Connection. I’m your host, Gordon Oliver, here with my co-pilot, Tina Marie. Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone. And it is an honor and privilege to introduce our special guest, Sunshine Beeson, who is the CEO of Inspiral Iridology.

Sunshine, welcome to The Cambridge Connection. Thank you so much, Craig. It’s great to have you because, obviously, New Year’s Eve brings people or use this kind of year benchmark to start making some resolutions. So we got into that in the opening, talking about some things on the financial side that people can focus on. But before we get into how you help people, can you tell our listeners a little bit about you and your career?

I can. So this is going to be upcoming my 40th year in this holistic platform. And my foundation of my work is called Iridology, which is an assessment tool analyzing the iris of the eye for physical and emotional health. So we have a complete... blueprint goes three generations back, three generations forward.

com, you kind of explain the process, but I’ve gotten to know you tremendously and just the presentation you do on how this really discovers or helps people discover some things that they can work on and fix. Can you talk about what iridology is? So the iris, the colored part of your eye, it’s a whole diagram, every little speck or flower petal shape or there’s all kinds of signs in the iris and that’s linked to a map actually to your physical body organs. So right directly around the pupil area is the connection of your digestive system. So what’s pretty fascinating is that I can see exactly the shape of somebody’s large intestine and what particular for them individually, what kind of enzymes would they need or how is their digestion, what kind of supplementation do they need and it actually goes, extends all the way out to the periphery of the iris of the skin, the lymph tissue, the endocrine system.

So it’s like taking a magnifying glass, holding it up to your body and seeing exactly internally what’s happening. And one of the things too, why would people want to do this system is because it can show predispositions for things that can occur that haven’t yet. So we can take preventative precautions. But here’s the thing that happens that I want to share with your audience right now. So some people will come to me saying, I’ve had lab work done and my doctor, my conventional doctor says that my thyroid is fine, but I can see in their eyes that they’ve got all the symptoms of a hypo, let’s say hypothyroid.

Well we have a left and right thyroid, which shows up in the left and right iris of your eye. And one side might look like it’s hypoactive and the other side looks balanced, normal. So that will cancel out in a blood test. Yeah. I had a kinesiologist that I had this conversation with, where the testing that they do isn’t really deep enough.

And again, with your strategy and all the experience you’ve had in doing this, you’re able to see all forms of things like anxiety, depression, stress, lack of self-worth, relationship problems. So this is the kind of healing that you’ve helped people with. And the reason I thought it was important to come on this show is we recently had a guest that was on our program that’s a friend of mine that had committed suicide. And this is an important time of the year for people when they’re making all kinds of changes and goals to have an understanding of there’s different ways to do it. There’s definitely a battle between regular medicine and holistic medicine these days.

And I think it’s important that even the financial habits that you have can be discovered. And we’re going to get into that in segment two. So the process, if I understand it, is you have a special camera that you take a picture of the eyes and then you are able to diagnose through the iris of the eye, different things that people might be struggling with that you can identify where there are problems, right? Right. So there’s the physical and then there’s the emotional behavioral aspects.

So those are all of the components you’re talking about, like the anxiety, depression, all of those. So I’ve got strategies that help people. And working with what’s so important here is the subconscious part of you. I really work with that part because the conscious mind has all these parts to it that are going to live in this survival mode due to the neural pathways that people learn when they’re children or relationships growing up. Words are powerful.

And so what is being said to somebody at a young age is going to have impact and that gets stowed away deep in that subconscious, even though the conscious mind says, OK, I’m over it. But you know what? You never get over it till you get under it. And what’s important is, and we use this symbolic time of year where people use it as a way to try to change things. But if you’re really not taking a deep dive into the behavioral aspect of things, most of the times, and you hear this a lot from people, that they fail with these things because they’re really short term, almost hopes that they have just this benchmark of a year to say, I’m going to start the new year with a new way.

And then if real work isn’t done there and accountability doesn’t exist, then typically a lot of those things fall by the wayside. I love, Gordon, how you said, you’ve got to do the deep dive because that’s what I do. We’ve got to get underneath as to what is the drive. And I want to give you an example of doing the deeper work. So I’d like you to imagine that we’re going to use some symbolism here.

I’d like you to imagine that your body is like a large hotel. There’s a lobby, there’s the elevators, that’s kind of your main core of your body. And off to the sides are these rooms, right in the hotel. Behind those doors in those rooms are all the different ages, different parts of you growing up that have made these subconscious vows, you might say, that are these deep seated, deep rooted patterns that have people react to life rather than respond to it. So that’s where we’ve got to go.

Break and sponsor message

We’ve got to go underneath to those doors and reintegrate these fragmented parts of self. Well, look, as you know, I talk to my co-pilot all the time. This show goes really fast. So we’re up against a hard break and I think what we’ll do is we’ll take a quick break and when we come back, this is a financial wellness show, so we’re going to kind of work through some of those things on how, you know, maybe some examples of people that you’ve helped that had those blocks. Because again, this show is about helping people get to a better place financially.

So we’ll get into that with you and we’ll take a quick break. This is Gordon Oliver with The Cambridge Connection. We’ll be right back. Inflation is pushing family finances to the brink. Don’t let that happen.

Find out how to pay down your credit card debt while saving money. To take control of your finances in 2023, call 1-800-CAMBRIDGE. Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone, and welcome back to The Cambridge Connection. This show is going really, really fast. As always.

Money beliefs and subconscious patterns

As it always does. But New Year, new you. We have our special guest, Sunshine Beeson, on to talk about another alternative way to look at how you do things, your habits, even the way you manage your money. So Sunshine, thank you again for joining us. And again, this technique is maybe very new to people listening, but this type of work that you do has been around for quite some time, hasn’t it?

Since the 1800s. 1800s? I didn’t even think it was that long. Wow. So this is a financial wellness show and Tina, my co-pilot, is a financial counselor.

And the statistics right now, there are record applications being filed to get open new lines of credit because people don’t make enough money with the economy the way it’s at. The amount of balances through the holidays, Cambridge Credit Counseling always has February as a major, major time when people are just desperate and reaching out because they’re getting all their bills in for the holidays. So we talk about habits, right? Forming habits. We just went through a list of things that you can do in the new year for money like budgeting and journalizing expenses.

But when it comes to someone that comes to you and they’re kind of stuck in a financial They’re having difficulties. What process do you go through with them to try to work through it? So where I see the greatest changes taking place is getting into those neural pathways through the subconscious. I have a program, a process that I do, it’s called hypnocore release, and where we go with that, especially my people that have these money beliefs, I’m going to say, those are some very core, deep-seated beliefs that they learn from school, from parents, from friends, and adopt those beliefs all through life. They’re hearing, I’m sure you’ve heard the statements, money doesn’t grow on trees, you’ve got to work hard.

I mean, these are imprinted patterns that people have, and some of them go even deeper than that. So what we’re doing, what we do is to reverse those beliefs and get somebody to really get into their deservability, their confidence, their self-worth, which I also do chakra work, so that’s third chakra, and that’s where those deep imprints start to happen, no matter what. I mean, it’s important, you’ve got to have the left brain, right brain, all in sync working, and most people, they think if they, I’m going to say, reference to left brain right now is the action, right, it’s the masculine energy, let’s do goals, let’s budget. You’ve got to have those things in place, but if you don’t have the belief behind it, then there’s going to be failure, and that’s why what happens with those resolutions in January, February, are people overspending. And so, if I can quickly give you an example, I had a woman that no matter what she did, she followed financial programs, did financial planning, all these kinds of things, which are great to do, but she couldn’t keep money, couldn’t keep it, it was always going out, always going out.

And so what we got to was that when she was a little girl, her parents fought about money. She made it up in her head that money means separation, it means fighting, I don’t want to have it around, and when we switched that belief, her income started increasing. I mean, it was like a miracle, it was magic, but I mean, I’ve got so many stories like that, but the thing, bottom line here, Gordon, is that we’ve got to get underneath to those beliefs through the neurotransmitters in the brain and get beyond the conscious mind to get down again to the core root of what is happening here. So what exactly is the process? When someone comes to you, you analyze the iris, and if you could just elaborate a little bit more on the process as to how you get down to the core beliefs.

To the root. Yes. Right, so the very first thing is I’m doing maybe like an, it’s an analysis, I’m looking at the eyes, I’m seeing what the behaviors are of a person, what’s happening physically, emotionally, what is the relationship, where are those blocks, because I can see those blocks in the eyes of self-worth, confidence, all of that. Then the next step would be, I would take them in my HypnoCore release program, which is basically, I call it conversational hypnotherapy, so I get somebody in a very relaxed state, and they’re conversing with me, but they’re in a space where I’m accessing the subconscious, so we’re going through layers and layers of emotions, connected and linked to those emotions are the different ages of self, where those beliefs started to come in. So what I’m doing, actually, is reintegrating these fragmented parts of self, and it’s a little hard to language it, but what happens is, somebody starts to get more connected to their true identity, they feel empowered, and there’s a ripple effect that starts to happen where they’re responding to life rather than reacting, and it shifts in their business, in their personal relationships, in their family, so that’s basically the front end of the process, but it’s all guided, you know, guided visualization and accessing those key points in time where they got those beliefs.

com because there’s actually a chart on your website with the right and left eye that kind of explains the dynamics of the eye and where you can find certain things like intestinal pathways, like it shows on the charts just so you can have a basic understanding of what that looks like. It’s kind of like an alternative to reflexology, right, the foot, the foot has the same kind of pathways, and this is a way to identify it, not just to see it, but to then work through the blocks, whether it’s, you know, again, depression, or anxiety, or financial relationships with money, it is really a process to get through how do we make changes and how can we stick to them, right, and the overall health of someone and where they might be struggling, because gut-brain relationship, right, Sunshine, that’s a whole nother discussion in science of if you’re not nutritionally sound, you’re not mentally sound in many cases because you’re not providing nutrition to the major organ that is what makes you tick, which is your brain. So when we try to do shows like this to offer alternatives, it’s because we couldn’t do a show every week saying, okay, budget, folks, this is how you budget, like there would be nothing intriguing, knowing the work that you do and how you help people and just giving people a different approach if they’re struggling to take a look at a different way to try to change how they behave in many ways of their life. Yes, absolutely. So...

I work at... Yeah. Go right ahead. No, go ahead. I was going to say mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical, you know, we’re holistic, we’re whole beings, so I address every issue of your humanness.

Yeah, and let’s, again, we’ve talked about this in the past, Tina Marie, how people use spending as almost a way to fix being sad. A coping mechanism. A coping mechanism, right? That’s a behavior. So if you’re continuously going down that road and you can’t change it, well, if you’ve done your best, maybe it’s time to seek help and get help from someone like Sunshine that provides a different way.

When you go to your doctor, is the doctor going to help you with your financial problems? That’s not what they’re there for. They don’t even try to dig into that, right? No, they’re just going to address the issue at hand. Right.

So you might be sad and then maybe it’s time for a medication, right? Right. This is a completely different way, if you’re going to make changes, to look into that this may be a direction you want to take about how to uncover some of the things that are preventing you from being successful in whatever it is you’re trying to change. So most people deal with the symptoms. It’s all about, right, the medical system, the financial system, it’s all about the symptoms that we’re having.

And I’m going to come back again, Gordon, what you said, we’ve got to get underneath. We’ve got to go to the core, go to the root to find what the issue is and work your way back up. Yeah. And so, Tina, when you counsel people, in the same respect, you’re digging in to how people got in trouble. And they’re stressed out when they call you, when they leave, whether they get a service from Cambridge or just an action plan, they feel relieved at the moment because they have an answer.

Right. Like Sunshine said, you get down to the core of the problem. Where did this start? How did this start? And even though we send people with an action plan or you send people with an action plan, what’s going to make them change to do those things, right?

Guest contact information and closing

We can’t really do that. That’s right. There’s other ways and other methods to try to make these changes and nothing better than the new year to try to bring that in. Sunshine, we are definitely running out of time. So, before we wrap this up and let you go, can you tell people where they can find you?

Are there any events that you’re going to be doing? Anything that you’d like to announce where people listening to the show can find you for more information? Sure. com is my website. I have a ceremonial manifestation wand retreat coming up January 21st.

It’s at Otwell one day, and then I will be having a couples intimacy retreat in April. I want to make one thing clear, too. This becomes a podcast and is nationally downloaded and listened to, so if you contact Sunshine and she’s not in your area, I know you have an amazing network of people that you could help introduce people that do what you do that can help people that aren’t in the area that you reside in. Right. All right, Sunshine.

All right, Sunshine. Listen. Happy New Year to you and your family. Thank you so much for coming on and helping us give an alternative way of people being able to change behaviors and change the way that they think, and again, this is a new year when people are trying to have resolutions and convict them and be accountable. No better way than getting help from people that are experts to coach people along the way.

So, thank you so much for joining us, and we certainly look forward to having you back on the show again. Thanks so much. Happy New Year, Sunshine. Thank you for coming. Happy New Year.

Yes. Happy New Year. We’re going to take a quick break. We’ll be right back. This is The Cambridge Connection.

Are you tired of being tired? Have you been through many different medical or natural health approaches that still have the same symptoms? Have you tried therapies for anxiety, stress, depression, and you still feel triggered? Iridology is an analysis tool analyzing the iris of the eye for physical and emotional health. Iridology can bring to light where you feel you’ve been in the dark, going beyond symptoms and getting to the core root of the problem.

Learn more at Inspiral Iridology. com or call 617-637-6672. Happy New Year, everyone, and welcome back to The Cambridge Connection. I’m your host, Gordon Oliver, here with my co-pilot, Tina Marie, that I think your head’s spinning a little bit. Yeah.

Yeah. I’m a little confused. I’m intrigued. I really am. I just wonder, you know, is it something she can see with her naked eye?

I know she said she took a picture, but ... No, so through the camera, the lens, it’s a special camera that she takes a picture so that she can look deeper into the iris of the eye and looking ... So again, if you just look in the mirror, there’s so many little fibers, and again, I’ve listened to some presentations from her who couldn’t possibly go through all of that, what we are trying to get across to people, and that’s what the show’s about. When it comes to financial wisdom and wellness, we can give all the simplest techniques, like budgeting, and all the things we can talk about, but if you can’t do them, or if your behavior is preventing you from doing it ... You need to find out why and how to change it.

You need to find out why. Now, you can go to a life coach. Life coaches are great to help you kind of reidentify what you want to do with your life, but again, if you can’t change the way you do things, if you can’t change behaviors, you’re either going to continue down that path forever, or you look into alternative ways to try to fix things. I bring a quote, which I obviously enjoy doing each week because I try to wrap it around our episode. There’s six important guidelines in life brought to you by the Mind Journal.

Number one, when you are alone, mind your thoughts. Number two, when you’re with friends, mind your tongue. Number three, when you are angry, mind your temper. Number four, when you are with a group, mind your behavior. Number five, when you are in trouble, mind your emotions, and number six, when God starts blessing you, mind your ego.
