What HUD Approval Means for Cambridge Credit Counseling#

Cambridge Credit Counseling is approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide housing counseling services throughout the country. Agencies must first get approval from HUD before they can offer these services, so Cambridge Credit Counseling’s approval means it has met HUD’s standards for helping consumers with housing issues.

The Three Housing Counseling Services#

Cambridge Credit Counseling offers services to help with all types of housing issues. These include:

• Foreclosure intervention and default counseling
• First-time homebuyer education courses
• Reverse mortgage counseling

Cambridge Credit Counseling is also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency, so these services are offered as part of its broader mission to provide financial literacy education to consumers nationwide.

Which of the Following Applies to You?#

• Foreclosure intervention: you are a homeowner who is either behind on your mortgage or concerned that you may have trouble paying your mortgage in the future. Foreclosure intervention is available to residents of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Missouri and Kansas.
• Rental counseling: you currently rent or are looking to start renting your living space, and you want to better understand your rights and responsibilities as a tenant. Cambridge Credit Counseling is not accepting new rental counseling clients at this time, so please visit HUD.gov to find a counselor in your area.
• First-time homebuyer course: you are looking to purchase your first home and would like to participate in a First-Time Homebuyer course, which may be required by some lenders.
• Reverse mortgage counseling: you are a senior who is interested in taking out a reverse mortgage and you need the required Reverse Mortgage Counseling Certificate.

Cambridge Credit Counseling is also approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs as a reverse mortgage counseling agency.
