Our counselors are among the most experienced, dedicated, and highly trained individuals in the profession. As a member agency of the Association for Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA), we are required to ensure all of our counselors are certified by an independent third-party, and that they maintain these certifications through continuing education.

The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE) is a nonprofit, professional organization deciated to educating, training, and certifying financial counselors and educators. Certified individuals must meet education, experience, and ethical requirements. In addition, continuing education and annual fees are required to maintain a certificate.
The Financial Counseling certification program, which Cambridge's counselors are certified to, examines the components of financial counseling, including counseling, budgeting, debt reduction, collection policies and practices, bankruptcy, government assistance programs and standards of practice.
The mission of the Center for Financial Certifications is to promote the effective delivery of consumer financial products, services and education through the professional certification of individuals providing these services. The Center accomplishes this mission by providing professional development, training, and certification for those in the financial counseling, education and related fields.
Many of our counselors have acquired IFL's Certified Personal Finance Counselor certification (CPFC). The CPFC is recognized by states which require the certification or continuing education of credit counselors, and has been accepted for continuing education credit by several other programs, such as the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards.
The NeighborWorks America Housing Counselor certification is achieved by completing courses of study in housing counseling principles and foreclosure basics. Counselors who acquire this certificate must pass all written examinations and endorse the National Industry Standards for Homeownership. Once certified, annual continuing education is required in order for the counselors to maintain their certificates.
The NeighborWorks America Foreclosure Intervention Counselor certification is achieved by completing specific courses of study in topics such as Foreclosure Intervention and Default Counseling, Advanced Foreclosure, and Developing and Implementing an Effective Foreclosure Program. Counselors who acquire this certificate must pass all written examinations and endorse the National Industry Standards for Homeownership. Once certified, annual continuing education is required in order for the counselors to maintain their certificates.
The NeighborWorks America Pre-Purchase Counselor certification is achieved by completing specific courses of study in all elements of Homebuyer Education and the home-buying process. Counselors who acquire this certificate must pass all written examinations and endorse the National Industry Standards for Homeownership. The NeighborWorks America Post-Purchase Counselor certification is achieved by completing specific courses of study in all elements of Post-Purchase Education and the responsibilities of being a homeowner.
